„Schachweltmeister in 64 Pixeln“ zeigt die  Porträts der bisherigen 16 Schachweltmeister. Die Vorlagen der Bilder entstanden nach Fotos, die auf die Größe von 8×8 Pixeln vergröbert wurden. Dies entspricht der Aufteilung eines Schachfeldes. Die malerische Umsetzung erfolgte dann mit großen Pinselstrichen in je 8 Grauabstufungen.

„World Chesschampions in 64 Pixel“ shows the portraits of the previous 16 Worldchampions. The model of the paintings has been worked after Photos which were reduced to 8×8 Pixel, the partition of a chessboard. Each was painted in 8 shades of grey with broader brushstrokes.

Bis heute haben 16. Schachweltmeister diesen Titel errungen. Dies entspricht zufällig der Zahl der Figuren jedes Spielers zu Beginn. Die vorgesehene Hängung soll sich nach dieser Startaufstellung (schwarz oder weiß, hier weiß) richten. Die genaue Position wurde per Würfel festgelegt (z.B. a1 ist Michail Botwinnik).

Till today there were 16 worldchampions. Coincidantally is this the number every player has at the beginning. The hanging should be orientated at this starting position (black or white/ here white). The position of each was fixed by rolling the dice (a1 is Michail Botwinnik)

Die zweite Vorlage für die Hängung basiert auf dem Raster des Spielfeldes. Die Porträts wurden in der Art eines Spielstandes durch würfeln angeordnet.

The second posibility to show the series based on the pattern of the chessboard. The portraits are positioned similar to the figures positioned in a game by playing the dice.
